Skin-Cooling Herbs

Close also recommends German chamomile essential oil diluted into a serum for inflamed or aggravated skin conditions to reduce inflammation and speed wound healing.

1. Fill a ½-ounce glass bottle halfway with a vegetable oil such as hazelnut oil.

2. Add 5 drops of German Chamomile essential oil, cover, and shake well.

3. Top off with hazelnut oil, cover, and agitate a second time.

4. Apply three to four drops to a moist cotton pad and wipe over damp skin.

You can find excellent essential oils at Floracopeia (www.floracopeia.com) and at many health food stores. Close also recommends evening primrose or black current oil to help soothe itching.
